Fun Fact of the Week: Mozzarella is an Italian fresh cheese made from water buffalo (chiefly in Italy) or cow's milk, the second used for most types of pizza or served with sliced tomatoes and basil in Insalata caprese. It is also served alone.

The production of mozzarella involves the mixture of curd with heated whey, followed by stretching and kneading to produce a delicate consistency -- this process is generally known as pasta filata. According to the Mozzarella di Bufala trade association, "The cheesemaker kneads it with his hands, like a baker making bread, until he obtains a smooth, shiny paste, a strand of which he pulls out and lops off, forming the individual mozzarella." Mozzarella di Bufala Campana trade organization (Retrieved May 8, 2005) It is then typically formed into ball shapes or in plait. In Italy, a "rubbery" consistency is generally considered not satisfactory; the cheese is expected to be softer.

It has been said that the name "mozzarella", which is clearly derived from southern Italian dialects, was the diminuitive form of mozza (cut), or mozzare (to cut off). Other theories describe its origins as a minor preparation of "scamozza" (Scamorza cheese), which in its turn probably derives from "scamozzata" ("without a shirt"), with allusion to the fact that these cheeses have no hard surface covering typical of a dry cured cheese.

Late soda news: I was able to finally track down some World of Warcraft Mountain Dew pop at a Target store nearby. Horde is slightly better than Alliance flavor. But the real winner? The Mt. Dew Voltage flavor. I found that next to the other pops and picked that up, and that's now my favorite... I think I might like it better than regular Mt. Dew!

I have no idea.

How come whenever I get Chex Mix I have to dig around for actual Chex? I want the tiny crispy spiced squares, but I keep running into crunchy untasty junk that outnumbers it.

So I go to read the news, and first thing I see is...

"Actor David Carradine found dead"

Gosh, I think. Yeah he was getting up there in years, in his 70's, but he was in good health still and...

Then I read further.

"American actor David Carradine has been found dead, hanging by a nylon rope in a hotel room closet in Bangkok, Thailand, according to a Thai police official."

Hanging? I mean, I don't know the guy in person, but interviews and parts he plays, his very popular history over the years, and everything... he -really- didn't see the suicidal type.

Whew, talk about losing a legend in a sucky way.

Only just now, after all these years, am I getting addicted and hooked to Mobile Suit Gundam.

It actually started with a branch off of my favorite video game. I love Dynasty Warriors, and Koei came out with a Gundam version of their popular game... and I adored it so much I started watching the anime.

And woah, the character development is mind-blowing. I am quite impressed. Moreso of the fact of the effort they put into character development of even one episode throwaway villains... everyone gets a backstory! It really makes it personable when people, good and bad alike, scream the names of their friends as they see them get disintegrated...

Except for Gundam Wing, which is ironically the more popular one in America. This one is kinda bleh- because the heroes are pretty much unstoppable, and the opposition pilots are mostly unnamable.

You take 5 sociopath teenage boys, stick them in 5 -invincible- robot suits that no one in the entire series has the power to even beat one of them by themselves, and throw them at nameless villains that they slaughter over and over mercilessly and without care... it's just lame and I hate it. I find myself rooting for one of the villains to even put a scratch on them...

Then again, maybe I'm the sociopath because I only like my Gundam where characters I actually care about die... go figure.

So I got home today from work to find my cat Musa had a wound on the back of his neck. Apparently my family let him out in the backyard this afternoon and then he somehow ended up with what looked like a patch of fur completely removed, along with a layer of skin or so.

Using my fist of justice to blast my family aside, I snatched up Musa, along with my smarter younger sister Virginia and we took him to the emergency vet.

Turns out he was fine, it's just an abrasion and no puncture marks or anything. Got some medicine to put on it. But still... maaaan, if I'm paying all the bills, they better be slaving for Musa while I'm at work.
